Unprepared in Niagara Falls

A few weeks ago Bobby's college buddy (Todd) and his son (Austin) came to visit for a few days. As with any visit to our region, we had to take him to Niagara Falls. I was working that day and unable to join in the fun.

Not to make any comments about male vs. female brains, but I have to believe that if a mom were present on the trip, she would have brought some jackets for the kids. Poor boys! I think Tommy's expressions are the funniest....

Catching Up- As Usual...

Well, here I am again... regretting that I haven't updated my blog more often. The pictures are still piling up and yet they sit unsorted on my desktop. The guilt is almost worse than cheating on my diet, and yet I choose to shoulder both burdens.

Well, to relieve my conscience a bit (for the lack of blogging... I'm still going to eat chocolate), I'm posting a photo from about a month ago. It's Tommy's first day of Kindergarten and he was so excited. He loves school and loves his teacher.... so sweet. Sammy has been a great helper to him and makes sure he gets to his classroom ok. It's nice to have a big brother to walk him into school. I'm not sure who it makes feel better, Tommy or me!

As usual, Allie always needs to be a part of the action. She can't wait to go to school and asks everyday when it will be her turn to go to school. Too soon, I fear. They are getting so big, so fast. Not in the picture is Pete (his school starts an hour earlier, he's in 7th grade now) and Matt (I'm homeschooling him this year, he's in 4th). Things have been very busy since school has started. I miss the lazy summer days... and weather.

ps- Thoughts going out to Jen and Tony today. Hope little Tony's surgery is successful!

Worth Noting....

I uploaded pictures from our week at the family cottage but am not quite ready to post them. I came across this photo though and had to post it right away. My father-in-law (aka "Grandpa") was bit by a dog at a young age and hates them as a result. He also thinks they are dirty and generally detestable. He feels similarly about cats and other furry creatures. I'm not sure his opinion of reptiles. Needless to say, he's just not a fan of pets.

Because we share a home with Bob's parents, we had to clear the idea of a dog with them. It was agreed that we would keep Kiko in our part of the house and try to keep her out of Grandpa's way as much as possible. It works most of the time, but once in a while she will make a mad dash through their home. Thankfully, over time, Grandpa has grown to like her (much to everyone's surprise). Still, I am always wary when Kiko's around Grandpa for fear she will be annoying.... and really the odds are 50/50.

When we went to the cottage two weeks ago, we brought Kiko with us. Bob's parents joined us for a few of the days. The second night they were with us at the cottage I came downstairs to see this...

I would point out that Grandpa's eyes are open and he is aware that a dog is resting at his feet. This may be the only picture ever of my father-in-law with a dog.

Apparently no one is as tickled about MacGyver being a mime as I am. I mean c'mon... he's a mime. Really? No one?

Oh well. I guess I'll have to go with the old standard that seems to always entertain small specific circles (namely my family). Yes, a classic post indeed...

Allie has fallen asleep in a weird, awkward location. I thought she had outgrown this but apparently not quite.

I have to say though, I feel a little sorry for Richard Dean Anderson. It's been more than 20 years since MacGyver and I'm not sure if anyone will ever think of him as anything else. He will forever be typecast and, as we all know, he is so much more. I started digging so indulge me a little while I explore the many sides as Richard Dean...

Dancing Allie

I'm still catching up with my photos. There's still a lot to upload. A few weeks ago, Allie asked me to take her picture of her singing and dancing. I honestly don't even remember the song she was singing. I wish I did. Feel free to insert your own song, but keep it clean... this is a family blog after all...
