Lazy Day

Ahhh... A day with nowhere to go and nothing to do (for the kids!). After a morning of various activities (including wrestle-mania 3), the kids settled down to enjoy an activity shared by all.... SpongeBob Squarepants. It's so pathetic. SpongeBob used to be banned in our home but I am getting lax in my old age and finally relented. Here are my kids zoned out in front of the boob tube. I wouldn't recommend it for every day but it's nice to take it down a notch just for today.

i have heard of people that ban spongebob...i think he's great. He's funny, naive to the evil ways of the world, he has a great work ethic & you couldn't ask for a better, more loyal friend who never gives up trying to make his friends happy. he is still in boating school after all this time & never gives up or gets discouraged, just keeps on trying! if mr crab keeps the restaurant open for 24 hours straight, he works with a smile on his face & never complains, which is why he has been "employee of the month" so many months in a row. Squidword treats him like crap sometimes, but he always turns the other cheek & tries to get him to come around. i, personally, love him.

the first time i saw spongebob was when pete rented a video from the library that had 4 or 5 episodes on the tape. the first episode was the one where a new classmate was introduced to spongebob's drivers ed. class and all he kept saying the whole time is "i'm going to kick your butt!". at the end he even tried to beat up spongebob but did not injure spongebob (because he was a squishy sponge) so everything worked out ok. being my first exposure with spongebob, i decided we would not watch it again. we waited four years before we watched it again. i agree with you, it's really funny and i can sit and watch with the kids without it being torture (unlike teletubbies, yo gabba gabba, or caillou- his voice drives me nuts!).

I concur with you about some programs being so numbing that it's frightning.

I don't even know when Spongebob is on here, so we've never seen it. So it's not banned, but it hasn't been discovered either.

One of the children's shows on my gag list is Dragon Tales. I just want to poke out my eyes! it's horrible.

And I also hate re-runs. If it's a new show, why are they already running re-runs? That doesn't make sense to me.

I really like Reading between the Lions. I think it's hilarious. I don't think the kids catch all the subtleties, but it makes it very bearable to watch for me as a parent.
