Tommy's Day

Tommy's 4th birthday was on Saturday and not a moment too soon. Everyday Tom would wake up and ask if his birthday was that day. The day before his birthday he fell asleep on the couch in the afternoon and I carried him up to bed. He woke up in the early evening and was quite excited because he thought it was morning and his birthday. Poor Tommy! I had to work early in the afternoon on Saturday but we did manage to set out later and go to Chuck E. Cheeses. It was not our first choice but Bounce Magic was packed and Chuck E. was packed but cheaper. We played some games and then came home to eat pizza and have some cake. Tommy wanted our neighbor friend Jeffrey to join us. Here they are below.....

My friend Kristina makes beautiful homemade cakes (and other baked goods!) that are truly art. She also always adds an extra personal touch like candied violets made from her garden.... it's amazing to look at and to eat. Here's my birthday cake for Tom..... Strawberry cake mix, two flavors of canned frosting for our non chocolate eaters, and Care Bear cake candies. Tommy likes to be called kitty so he was really happy to see his adopted name on the cake. It's not pretty but it works!

Here's Tommy blowing out the candles. It wound up being a healthy mix of air and spit when he was blowing. We had to be careful when cutting the cake to make sure we intercepted all saliva before serving. Ah the joys of having a four-year-old!
